GENERAL SUMMARY

 

The Area Catering Sales Manager will have primary responsibility including driving new catering sales, establishing and maintaining new client relationships, and supporting catering marketing, operations and new restaurant opening strategy. Velvet Taco has 40+ restaurants across multiple states, with plans to open 40-50 more over the next 4 years. We are looking for an Area Catering Sales Manager to join our Tribe and lead catering sales building in our home market of DFW.

 

The Area Catering Sales Manager is responsible for acting as a brand accelerant, building awareness of the Velvet Taco brand and catering offering while simultaneously making a real impact by bolstering area catering sales. This role reports directly to the VP of Marketing and will work closely with other members of the Restaurant Support Office and Field Operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Driving New Catering Sales: Generate leads and develop catering contact list. Catering prospecting: calls, emails, food and menu drops.
  • Establishing/Maintaining New Catering Relationships: Recommend and support creation of catering sales tools and programs. Lead local marketing events as necessary.
  • Support Catering Operations: Maintaining and enforcing catering standards of service in partnership with Operations. Support and optimize new catering tests and programs.
  • Support Catering Marketing: Share recommendations with marketing team based on catering learnings and trends.
  • New Restaurant Openings: Collaborate in the development and implementation of New Restaurant Opening marketing plans and build catering brand awareness and sales in new restaurants.
  • General Duties: Assist with overall catering planning, strategy and execution. Evaluate and recommend catering sales tools and programs. Support and execute local events as necessary. Catering guest relations.

Qualifications

  • BE RELENTLESS, NEVER SETTLE: You continuously set goals and convert plans into action. You recognize and solve problems and are an analytical thinker. You have strong experience writing and executing a local marketing or catering sales plan.
  • BE A REBEL: You are passionate about guest relations, tacos and creating memorable out-of-the-box thinking and events. You have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • KICK ASS & TAKE NAMES: You have 3-4 years catering & sales experience, preferably with a multi-unit restaurant brand. You have proven organizational and time-management skills. You have a proven ability to build and maintain a book of business via proven sales techniques, including cold calling. Experience.
  • STAND TOGETHER: You have a high level of involvement in trade organizations and/or networking outlets. You have the ability to establish and maintain relationships both internally and externally.

The Director of People Operations will have primary responsibility for driving and executing the organization’s talent and workforce plans from analyzing the current status of talent to developing and delivering plans across the lifecycle of Team Members to ensure the best talent is in place and engaged across all positions. Velvet Taco has 40+ restaurants across multiple states, with plans to open 15+ per year over the next 5 years.

 

The Director of People Operations works closely with other members of the Restaurant Support Office as well as the Regional People Operations Managers to develop, lead, and enforce recruitment, management and employment relations policies. The ideal candidate must be a true brand ambassador a resourceful and enthusiastic professional, with a strong sourcing and recruiting background, knowledge of current industry trends, and leadership experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Develop and manage the People Operations Team including Regional People Operations Managers that are responsible for the full cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, creating offer letters, and administering background checks for all management positions
  • Design and maintain all variable and non-variable pay programs
  • Manage the bi-annual performance appraisal program, linking results to merit program
  • Lead Recruiting efforts from workforce plan to regular status reviews and maintaining PARs for RSO, Management and Hourly Team Members
  • Lead companywide compensation programs: Executive and Non-Executive 
  • Ensure that all pay programs and practices provide for internal equity and competitive market positioning to provide optimal recruitment and retention outcomes 
  • Manages VT salary structure ensuring a sound grading methodology and balanced approach to position levels across the organization by providing day-to-day thought leadership, training, communications and guidance on compensation matters 
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors
  • Facilitate our Open Door Policy, responding to Team Member feedback
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures, modifying and distributing the RSO, Manager, and Team Member Handbook as appropriate
  • Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system, keeping past and current records
  • Demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking to develop new Talent Acquisition strategies to support long term growth plans and keep us cutting edge
  • Participate in Team Member appreciation efforts by working with Director of Talent Development to create a sustainable and scalable brand-wide recognition and appreciation program, and RSO cultural events and celebrations
  • Manage and maintain the People Operations budget

Qualifications

  • BE RELENTLESS, NEVER SETTLE: Expert knowledge in using Internet-based recruiting techniques, including social networking sites, hiring platforms, and online job boards is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with articulate presentation and facilitation skill.
  • BE A REBEL: Professionally handles time sensitive/confidential information appropriately. Exceptional organizational skills. Experience with and capable of working in a remote environment
  • KICK ASS & TAKE NAMES: Minimum 5+ years recruiting or equivalent experience in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry.
  • STAND TOGETHER: Works well independently and as a member of a team. Ability to partner and manage cross functionally.
