Talent Acquisition Manager (HR)

Overview:

Ready to be part of something big? Velvet Taco has 30+ restaurants across multiple states, with plans to open 15+ per year over the next 5 years.  Our People team is expanding, and we are seeking a People Operations Manager to join our Tribe! The ideal person will have a passion for people, operational excellence, and overall, deliver an exceptional candidate experience.


This role will work closely with other members of the Restaurant Support Office and Field Operations. Primary responsibilities include full-cycle recruiting, on-boarding, and other HR responsibilities such as, executing employee relations and employee retention initiatives. The ideal candidate must be a true brand ambassador a resourceful and enthusiastic professional, with a strong sourcing and recruiting background, knowledge of current industry trends, and leadership experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manages the full cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, creating offer letters, and administering background checks for all management positions.
  • Handles all on-boarding and off-boarding duties including, administering new hire paperwork, conducting I-9 Verifications, and performing exit interviews.
  • Partners and collaborates with the Director of Operations to support one of our fast-growing regions by identifying hiring needs and selecting top talent to meet the company’s long term growth plans.
  • Identifies high-quality pool of internal and external candidates through utilizing various online job boards, networking, and referral program maximization.
  • Coordinates travel for candidates during the interview process and for managers training out of state.
  • Acts as an internal consultant, training and educating Hiring Managers on talent acquisition processes and modeling best practices.
  • Manages Applicant Tracking System (Hirebridge) by maintaining daily workflow of candidates and posting new positions.
  • Executes employee relations from intake through resolution for all issues raised.
  • Demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking to develop new Talent Acquisition strategies to support long term growth plans and keep us cutting edge.

QUALIFICATIONS: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required, (human resources, communications, management, hospitality)
  • Minimum 2+ years recruiting or equivalent experience in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry
  • Expert knowledge in using Internet-based recruiting techniques, including social networking sites, hiring platforms, and online job boards is required
  • Works well independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to partner and manage cross functionally
  • Professionally handles time sensitive/confidential information appropriately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with articulate presentation and facilitation skill
  •  Exceptional organizational skills
  • Experience with and capable of working in a remote environment
  • Location: This role can be located in TX, ATL, IL or NC.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel 10% (as necessary to existing and future Velvet Taco locations)

Director of Design & Construction

Overview:

Velvet Taco is seeking a Director of Design & Construction capable of driving brand growth while maintaining Velvet Taco quality design and execution. The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading the development teams and processes with a focus on dates and budgets with an elevated eye for design. They should be able to leverage existing relationship with external vendors and well as establish new connections to maintain a strong network to support Velvet Taco’s growth objectives. Reporting directly to the VP of Development & Construction, the ideal candidate must stay Relentless in pushing the brand and the Development team members forward.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Responsible for construction, architecture, and engineering leadership required for development of new restaurants meeting local codes, landlord requirements, and Velvet Taco standards

• Provides design and development solutions for potential new restaurant locations in support of the real estate approval process 

• Align design direction with appropriate budgets, and track development spending, holding team members and vendors financially accountable throughout the development process

• Lead the development process to ensure projects milestones are maintained, and effectively communicate to the broader team and changes

• Develop brand standards/processes to ensure team members and external partners have the support to successful execute new restaurant openings 

• Work with key departmental leaders to establish a change management process to that will allow the brand to evolve with the design and build of new restaurants

• Own the project closeout and budget reconciliation, as well as the tenant allowance collections

• Take on the role of a construction project manager as workload requires, while maintaining other responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a group of professionals to achieve individual and group goals 

• Display a wide degree of creativity and latitude

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related field, preferred.

• Minimum of 10 years recent and related experience.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

• Strong discipline of financial management including financial tracking, budgeting, forecasting and analysis

• Strong analytical mindset with a sound financial business acumen

• Comfortable managing competing and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Flexible, detail-oriented team-player who works well under pressure and has strong organizational and time management skills

• Must have strong communication skills with the ability to successfully communicate to team members, vendors, contractors, and executive team


LOCATION & TRAVEL:

Position located in Velvet Taco Restaurant Support Office in Plano, TX                                   

Flexibility with work hours necessary with up to 30% of travel, as needed


Development Manager

Overview:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

This role’s primary responsibility is to lead the development process for Velvet Taco development from Real Estate Committee approval to permit complete completion. Through continous interactions and communications with business partners, both internal and external, the Development Manager will monitor progress against key milestons of the development schedule, provide direction in pivotal circumstances and reporting changes to the broader team. They must be a high energy, self-motivated Team member who can work independently, and also function at both a strategic and hands-on level.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Position responsibilities include the following:

·      Lead internal and external team members in completion of critical task throughout the development process to achieve the Velvet Taco development goals

·      Support the real estate pipeline and approval process with discovery and due diligence of potential sites

·      Communicate new site approvals and key delivery dates to the broader team

·      Effectively and actively communicates with internal teammates (Operations, Training, Culinary Finance, IT & Marketing) on key dates necessary to accomplish our development goals

·      Leads and tracks design development by managing the architects, expeditors, engineers and other consultants

·      Leads all external vendors in procurement of entitlements from governing jurisdications

·      Responsible for all third party project approvals, including Landlord

·      Coordinates with Landlords and Construction to ensure proper delivery of our premises with all required entitlements in place

·      Coordinates with Finance and Construction to seucre timely delivery of Tenant Allowance

·      Helps facilitate, with Construction’s efforts, the turnover to Operations delivering a ready-to-train, state-of-the-art restaurant

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or BS in Architecture, Real Estate Finance, or related field required
  • Must have 5+ years of multi-unit development experience
  • Must have significant retail development experience. Restaurant development experience preferred
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to successfully communicate to architects, contractors, permitting jurisdictions, third party vendors, etc
  • Ability to partner and manage cross functionally
  • Self-starter and must be able to work autonomously
